Privacy architecture

The relay doesn’t need to know your conversation.

Encryption happens in your browser using AES-256-GCM. Room keys stay in the URL fragment, which browsers do not include in normal HTTP requests. The relay stores encrypted payloads rather than plaintext.

Encrypted recovery

Create a password-encrypted file containing what another browser needs to restore your rooms and applicable entitlement information. Your recovery password isn’t sent to Unkept.
